You can probably guess by my absence here that medically things have not gone as well as I'd hoped. I've had a rough month, and am back in surgery tomorrow. I'm hoping this surgery will be the end of it for a while... I'll have a brief follow up procedure in a couple weeks, and then.... well... hopefully it'll be several months.
This Friday there's an event in town I want to go to with Cailin. It's not big, it's kinda weird... basically a bunch of people are going to show up with these unicorn costumes and trot around town, the idea is to spread positivity and joy, something we can all do with more of.
I'm not sure how many unicorns they'll actually get, but I'm hopeful.
Next week is my birthday, and that's a whole other lot of hopeful. The original idea was to go to The Tides in Bodega Bay, someplace I've wanted to go ever since Cay and I went to the Hitchcock film festival a few years back. There is a "The Birds" museum there, and the (supposedly) original window where Tippy Hendren sat in the iconic scene from the movie is part of the current restaurant space.
I have mixed feelings about going because (a) it's farther from my home than I've been since my last surgery on June 2. (b) I'm not sure how well I'll feel (c)I'm not thrilled with the menu there, I'm going for the connection to the film.
Both events should be blog-worthy if I do get to go.
One thing I wanted to do this month but never got to was bingo across the street at the community center. We have a huge discount for going during your birthday month with a friend. Unfortunately, next Friday is the last day for that, and I'm pretty sure that even if I am good enough to go photograph unicorns for a few minutes downtown that I'm not going to be up to sitting in a bingo hall for hours on end. I feel pretty bad about that.
I probably should be blogging my patio garden, which is going well this year: I've already harvested my early lettuces, and am thinking of putting something else in their spot. I've got tomatoes and cucumbers coming along, as well as three different types of peppers. I've got a number of herbs, and I was also able to pick up some dyer's indigo which I have in a large pot near my lavender. I always dream of having a dyer's garden, but that isn't going to happen on my patio, and I'm not sure how much indigo I'm going to get, but I'm going to get SOMETHING, and that'll be fun.
I'm jealous of your harvest. I think we've given up on getting much of any real food to grow in our yard. But we might be able to grow flowers so if not productive at least the yard could be pretty?
ReplyDeleteI'm really sorry to hear that your surgery didn't go as well as hoped for and more will need to be done. But I hope you are able to make it to the unicorn event - that sounds just brilliant!
