creek and creaky

Today I took a bit of a walk with Cinnamon down along Lynch Creek and Lucchesi Park.  I had a number of goals in mind.  First, to give Cinnamon a good walk, because she's been indoors these last couple weeks and only going out for quick potty runs.  Second, to get a walk in myself, without a cane, just to see if I could do it ok. (more about that in a bit).  Third and lastly, to gather leaves and plants to do some print making projects I'd been thinking about for a long time.

There are always fun things to see, in any season.  I was kinda sad that I didn't get to see the turkeys over by the hospital when I was walking to the park, but I'm sure they'll be around.   I hadn't noticed the memorial tree (in the photo immediately above) before.  I mean, I'd seen the tree, but never noticed it had a memorial stone.

I collected a few odds and ends.  A couple flowers, a feather, some oak leaves.  I had an idea to make a print on some of the papers I'd made a few years back.  I'm glad I experimented with my least favorite first, because it was a total failure.  I'll try again with different dilutions of paint. I think I'd be better off using a high flow paint or an ink than using diluted heavy body paints, but...

As for the actual walking part,  I was pretty skeptical about walking that far with the meniscus tear in my right knee that's kept me pretty much down and out for months.  I've just started walking without a cane around the apartment complex, and this was probably a little more daring than I should have considered.  But the walk itself was fine.  Now, however, less than an hour later, I feel like someone drove a railroad spike through the back of my knee.   I'm going to have to be a little more gentle about that.

Especially since I want to go hiking in Point Reyes in pretty soon.

  1. Hiking? Ooo...I haven't done any since I moved off the island and damn do I miss it. I blew it off the first few years in OC because working seemed so important. Hah! Was I stupid or what? The one thing you can usually do for free and now my body is too effed up to handle anything more than up & down the aisles of the grocery store. And that pretty much knocks me on my ass, requiring a nap.
Oh if we could turn back time.
