Wakulla Springs

Early on a Saturday morning we headed to Wakulla Springs to take the first boat tour of the morning.  My first objective was to see manatees in the wild, something I'd never seen before, despite having lived in Florida previously.

While waiting for the tour, manatees came up toward the swimming area.  Objective met, and the tour hadn't even started yet.  When we went in to get our tickets, we looked through the small visitor's center and learned a little about the park, including that it had been the site for the filming of several movies, especially some of the old Tarzan films and perhaps most notably, The Creature From the Black Lagoon.

The tour was a visual feast.  There was wildlife of all kinds along the bank and in the waters.  Rather than describe everything, here are some of the photos:

What species are those ducklings (?) that are sitting on the log in the last picture? I recognize all the other birds, but I can't place them. Also, that last picture is really dark.
