Oddly enough, last night I had nightmares about arguing with Creationists at my daughter's school. In my dream, the school was having "game night" which we went to. Little did we know it was a set up. The girls and I were the only rationalists in the bunch, and as it turned out, the first question in the trivia part of the game is "how did life come into being?" Of course the thing turned into a verbal brawl, I awakening at the end (where I spoke eloquently but persuaded no one) sweating and with a massive migraine.
I can't say for sure whether it's my ongoing issues with the school (yesterday I both went to the district to transfer the girls out of that cluster for next year and called the school to have my daughter removed from a class that had no teacher for the last several week and has been watching Disney movies), or that bowl of chili I had last night that triggered the dreams, only that the feeling of being in the minority or standing alone against all this has become overwhelming at times.
I wonder, since so many of these people don't understand evolution and find "Darwinism" a religion, should I hold my kids home from school today to celebrate our holiday? ..nah.. what better way to celebrate Darwin than with education? I just wish they were getting more of it in that school!
I'll be celebrating Darwin Day by putting out a new t-shirt this afternoon, and I'll be hanging out online with my kids with the National Geographic interactive website for their program Galapagos which I had the joy of catching some of a couple days ago.

You go! Almost nothing (short of, say, genocide) makes me angrier than Creationism (= ID) taught in our schools as "an alternative scientific theory".
The state of our education system is appauling. Keep fighting the good fight! My kids will be in school starting in a couple years, then I'll be joining you in that fight.
