With the upcoming presidential election looming, we’re seeing a lot of coverage of candidates and a lot of promises being thrown about. Anything that bothers you about the election, or in politics in general?
1. All the email from the campaign I support. I really DON'T need to be reminded 3 times a day. Thanks anyway.
2. People I usually respect voting the other way. Look, I know you're smart, but how DARE you disagree with me on this one?
3. Finger pointing. She did this, he did that, and usually it's something OUTSIDE the issues. Unless they're enemy spies (for real, not just having been to school in a foreign country) or involved in some shady deals (and not stupid minor real estate shenanigans) I don't CARE.
4. Electing a great leader, and having to deal with crapy legislature. We have that in New Mexico. Bill comes up with some can-do plans and the legislature shoots it down. Concern about the state budget, for the most part... but what does the state budget have to do with civil unions?
5. Opposition to Civil Unions. [ref: Defenders of Marraige, Zimmerman]
6. Huckabee. 'nuff said.
7. Super delegates: Individuals picked by our party to make up our minds for us.
8. Taking to my dad. At the best of times it'll raise my bp through the roof, during election years all the stops are pulled and the gloves are off. Can you guess that he's ultra-conservative?
9. Being surrounded by IDiots... and knowing that they're voting... probably for Huckabee.
10. Knowing Jeb is still out there somewhere...

Not a Huckabee fan, are you? :-)
Great list, but your last item will give me nightmares.
I will have to say I agree. AZ has the good leader (I won't call Ms. Napolitano great- she is too conservative in some areas) and a really sucky legislature. They are bringing up gay marriage again- when there are much more important things to worry about.
My mother is listen to Limbaugh/Fox News conservative and I live with her. It was apparently a family crisis when they realized I had registered as a democrat. Sigh.
I absolutely LOVE this list of yours. Jeb? Too danged funny. That made me spit water all over my monitor. What a hoot. And sad thing is....this is all so true! You and me both.
Now, when it comes to your #8....it's the same way with hubby and I usually....but this election year we're both in agreement....the "Hill-Billy" needs to put on a pair of boots...and bring a shovel to her campaign speeches...it's gettin' mighty deep. rofl. [for that little ditty, I apologize profusely...to all of her backers.]
Thanks for coming by my blog today. Your list is great. I think this was a very interesting exercise. I have enjoyed reading everyone's response.
Sorry Florinda... I lived in FL too long, and I KNOW what the man can do if he ever gets in the White House.
And I haven't a doubt in the world that he aspires to it.
how about elections like this one, where fringe candidates are garnering an absurd and terrifying amount of support? Not only that, but racist, genocidal fringe candidates? Just be glad the knowledge of what Ron Paul actually believes in (and that there are people who seem otherwise reasonable supporting him) doesn't plague your every waking moment.
Wembly,
I was terrified about Ron Paul months ago. Now it seems he doesn't have ENOUGH support to gain any significant power. These days Huckabee is the real threat. He still has a chance for it.
Unfortunately I was limited to only 10 choices. I took the 10 most immediate.
